URI's Feinstein wins conference honor Rhode Island Rams Basketball Tickets, Rhode Island freshman kicker Louis Feinstein was selected Colonial Athletic Association Football Rookie of the Week on Monday after he connected on a pair of field goals to help the Rams to 27-24 victory over Monmouth to open the 2008 season. Feinstein, from Irvine, Calif. began his collegiate career by accounting for nine Ram points. The California native hit 2-of-3 field goals and was a perfect 3-for-3 on extra point tries. The URI freshman began the day with a 47-yard field goal.

URI's Casey has surgery for compound fracture University of Rhode Island running back Joe Casey is recovering from surgery for a compound fracture of his lower left leg. Casey, a senior from Syracuse, N.Y. was injured with 6:07 remaining in the first quarter in the Rams'.season-opening 27-24 victory over Monmouth Saturday at Meade Stadium. He was removed from the field and transported to South County Hospital. The helmet of a Monmouth defensive back hit Casey's leg at the end of a six-yard run to the Monmouth 13-yard line. URI Holds on, Beats Monmouth in Season Opener Kicking off the college football season, the Rhode Island Rams got off to a good start Saturday against Monmouth and then held on in the second half for the victory. URI scored two first half touchdowns and added a field goal to take the 17-3 lead at halftime. Albany Game Report, Picasa Web Album & Thank You's NCAA, First, some thank you's are appropriate. The UMass Athletic administration should take a bow. The Albany game was an event. McGuirk looked great under our new lights with our new sound system on our new field turf field. The fireworks were awesome. I bet a good 50% of the crowd stayed to watch the show after the game ended. The UMass Marching Band was great for the umpteenth year. The band makes these halftime shows look easy-and it's not. USF has the dubious honor of getting a mention in the college football preview in this month's Cigar Aficionado magazine, written by oddsmaker Danny Sheridan. The Rams open the 2008 season at home on Saturday against non-league foe Monmouth. Gone are former coach Tim Stowers and his option offense, which relied almost exclusively on the run. Full URI hoop schedule released On a beautiful day in August, the talk in the URI athletic department today was about men's basketball. In late afternoon, the Atlantic 10 announced the conference schedule for this winter. We told everyone about that a couple hours ago. This evening, the school has released its non-conference games, too. Well, all but one game. The Rams are still one game short.
