Album Review: For My Friends It has been 13 years since we have heard a new Blind Melon song on the radio, so naturally I would be enthusiastic - and it was worth the wait. For My Friends is a well-crafted album that has all the familiar standards of Soup, Nico, and Blind Melon - folk and classic rock guitar, a jam rehearsal atmosphere, et cetera. I Should Have Built An Ark - Seriously Concerts, We are on day two of nonstop rain.  I hope our plants do not decide to drown or better yet I hope they do not get used to this rain we have had - because if this year is like any other year, this will be the majority of our rainfall.  Only crammed into 3 days. Saturday about 6 or 7 PM it started to rain.  It was nice and unexpected, in fact it cooled off rather quickly - which screamed hail to me? but that wasn't the case.  Apparently a ?cold front? had dipped down and we were experience real .

CoS hangs out with Carbon Leaf and Blind Melon Blind Melon, In speaking with both fans, security, and band members alike, one thing about this particular concert became more evident as day turned to night - the crowd was ready. They got exactly that, though much later in the day. While most of the staff at Consequence of Sound is busy setting their sights on the rest of this summer's music festivals, I went the less expensive route yesterday, catching the latest edition in Raleigh, North Carolina's free Downtown Live concert series - Blind Melon.

On the road with d: Cassettes Won't Listen One of my favorite albums that I've been listening to this month is Cassettes Won't Listen's Small-Time Machine. Now, this isn't a particularly new release; the album came out in March, but I hadn't given it a listen yet until earlier this month and I'm glad I checked it out. Cassettes Won't Listen is Jason Drake and he's a one man band blending electronica and indie rock. When he started, he was just having fun with it and he wanted to trick people into thinking that it was a full band.

Return of the ?90s Rockers Tickets, Just when I thought I'd buried The Ghosts of Music Past, they all start clawing out of their graves again. I'm talking about the rash of ?90s bands suddenly reemerging on the tour circuit. In the past month, I've seen ads for everyone from Soul Asylum to STP to Sister Hazel. Sadly, I'll be missing the Live/Collective Soul smack-down in Kansas City this July, a double-bill that would have left 15-year-old Nicole's heart singing. Perhaps most unsettling are those bands all too literally trying.
