Newly Spun ?Yarns? in CRAFT Magazine's August 2008 Weaving Issue The newsstands will soon feature another piece of my swank writing work. I received my copy of CRAFT Magazine's 8th issue in the mail yesterday. On page 43, in the heart of the issue's special weaving section, you'll find my piece. Similar to my profile of San Francisco's Annie Weinert in CRAFT's 4th issue, my work for the 8th issue features New York State's Four Directions Weaving - a humble yet successful small eco-conscious business. My emo is not your emo A post by Jen at Jen-Sized reminded me of something that has bothered me. What the kids call ?emo? today is not at all what I called ?emo. Emo wasn't a clothing style. It was a music style. It hadn't crossed from headphones .to mockery. It was just good music; music that some thought was awful, but music that had a loyal following of sane, level-headed fans. To me, emo was punk with a box of tissues; complicated, emotional, thoughtful and introspective music that meshed well with competing. Omaha. In which I judge the youth of today. I was just reading on the Reason Magazine blog that emo kids in Russia are protesting a potential ban on emo because the Duma says it promotes antisocial and suicidal behaviors. This comes on the heels of widespread emo persecution and rioting in Mexico. I wouldn't go so far as to say that the music and fashion should be banned, but I would like to pass along some advice my mother imparted on me when I was in high school. When you're older, you're going to look back and be embarrassed. We're doing something similar at my house, except the boys are clocking in at maybe 10 minutes a day. Fully aware of their horrid handwriting, I just instituted a daily writing practice. A Good Week tickets, Just so you know my signal has faded yet again. It was really rocking there for a few days. I was happy to have it. As always I'll be by to visit as soon as I can. I'd like to thank you for all of the comments you left on Monday. I had no idea that Mega Stores bothered as many people as they do (aside from the fact that they simply exist that is). It's also nice to know that I'm not the only one who is rather attached to their schedule. I know it's a control thing. And I guess the first good. 1949 Bowman tickets, I thought I would take today to post the cards I have in my collection from the 1949 Bowman Series. It's been a while since I did a posting in which I include a checklist of cards from the given year. The two cards I have of this set are Sam Zoldak and Henry Edwards. I don't know why, but the Zoldak card features no player name on the front and the name on the back is typed out. The Edwards card has the player's name on the front in a white box, and his name on the back is in a cursive style. |
