My Oxygen 2008 Wishlist Echo and The Bunnymen, The .stage times for Oxygen were announced a few days ago. It's unfortunate that a lot of the bands I would want to see are clashing but that was always going to be the case. It looks like I won't be seeing anything of Black Kids, Friendly Fires, Interpol or Tricky. Shame. Friday Night is probably the best night for Rock with Editors, Interpol and Kings of Leon all playing on the Main Stage. I'll be taking a slight detour to the Dance Stage to take a look at UNKLE doing his thing live (hopefull. Celebrity Muxtape #2: A Classic Education concert, The second STN favourite to take part in our playlist of the stars feature is the Bologna-based band whose carefully constructed huge sweeping anthemry came to our attention at the turn of the year, and we instantly made space for them on our year in preview Covermount and have followed their progress carefully since. They've actually worked with the aforeMuxtaped Jeremy Warmsley and have just released a fine debut EP, available through their website and Myspace. With all that in mind we asked. Carnival of Rock and Roll July 1, 2008 Alright, back to regularly scheduled programming here at the Soul of Rock ?n? Roll. Bout time too if you ask me as I really missed the carnival last month. It's a good dose of what's going on in the world of rock on the internet usually with a great range of topics and articles. One good thing that did come from missing the June carnival it seems though, is that this month got a lot more entries than I normally see? which is pretty sweet. And so without further ado? the Carnival of Rock ?n. Echo and The Bunnymen tickets. Somethin' somethin' a-go-go live. In reality, The Stills were much more than all that. They didn't jump on the Montreal scene bandwagon as much as they were forced unto it at knife-point by press and PR people. "Fire on Corridor X" by All the Saints Echo and The Bunnymen ticket broker, With All the Saints sharing a label with post-punk ear annhilators, A Place to Bury Strangers, in Killer Pimp Records, it's natural to start drawing comparisons between the two groups. Although both bands hail from the land of apple pie, baseball, and freedom fries, they share an affinity for British rock, be it New Wave, Post-Punk, Brit-Pop or Shoegaze. When A Place to Bury Strangers debut was released last year, they drew immediate comparisons to the Jesus and Mary Chain. 80s-90s Alt Rock Week on Premise Island!
