Why is it that the second brother, the one who left, considered to be unsaved?  We agree that the father in the parable represents God, and that being with the father in his house represents being in God's presence i.e. being saved, being in fellowship with the church, being in right standing with God, etc. So, in my opinion, the natural interpretation of the story is that when the son leaves, it represents a believer that temporarily backslid.

Bon-bon Chicken I made this summer favorite of ours the other night and thought I'd blog about it here as part of Patty's Cook It Blog It initiative. It's light and yummy and just perfect for hot weather. While I am making the sauce I boil up 3-4 chicken breasts. The sauce is made with 2 T soy sauce, a t sugar, some finely chopped scallions, 1 t red chili oil and 1/2 t ground peppercorns. Mix it all together with a few tablespoons of tahini or peanut butter with a little sesame oil. It should be fairly runny. Ours.
