80/35 Festival (Day Two) We arrived to the festival grounds a little early on Saturday so we could walk around and check out some of the other non-music features that the event had to offer.  There was an interesting mix of people out and about which was pretty great to see.  One guy decided to bring out his pet snake for a stroll, and the kids around him were fascinated by it (note: the kid in the red was wearing a Pixies shirt.  I think he is officially the youngest hipster I've ever seen). The Watson Twins Take 5 for Kentucky This week Louisville natives, Chandra and Leigh Watson, better known as The Watson Twins Take 5 for Kentucky!  They just recently signed to Vanguard Records (once home to Joan Baez and more recently Yonder Mountain String Band) and released a new album, Fire Songs, which is just amazing, in June.  In 1997, the Watson Twins moved from Louisville to L.A.s Silverlake area; a neighborhood that Beck, Elliot Smith, Rilo Kiley (and my brother as of last Monday) have called home.  In 2006, the Wats. Wild at Heart - July 7th 2008 Yonder Mountain String Band, Wild At Heart Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th Of July weekend. I started off at Cityfest on Wednesday and caught some cool local artists including the electronic dance pop group Love Meets Lust and folk singer Aran Ruth. Unfortunately, the main reason I went down was to see De La Soul and they got rained out which is the second time this year I have been to a festival where the weather was bad enough to shut down the place for a few hours. I wish these festivals could have a backup planne.

I mean, I assumed he had been in a number of bands while starting out, but I didn't think any were of much consequence.
