Tourists in Memphis ? Day two For our second day in Memphis we headed back to Mud Island (as it was closed.esterday). You can take a short walk to Mud Island via a walkway, or you can pay $4.00 and ride the Monorail. We didn't have our morning walk, so we opted for the walkway. On Mud Island you will find ?the river walk? which is a unique representation of the Mississippi River. It is a 5-block replica of the lower Mississippi river from Cairo, IL to New Orleans, LA. A great day This morning I woke up and really wasn't looking forward to seeing the city, my impression colored by West Memphis. It is amazing how much can change in the span of a day. I started by going to Graceland. I thought that touring NASA with a bunch of teenagers hopped up on sugar was bad. It was nothing compared to a bunch of rabid Elvis fans waiting to get on a bus to tour Graceland. I though that some of these people were going to hop out of their shoes waiting. Fairgrounds April 24rth Skate Demo- the dawn of a new era for the Memphis Skate Community Yesterday the skaters came together to show our Memphis Parks and Rec staff just what skating meant to them. It was a day where the tight knit nature of this community, it's passion and diversity where on full display for those who attended. Seemingly this event was doomed for failure. If there ever was an event with every factor working against it, this was that event.
